The resort's restaurant is located in the clubhouse. The nearest supermarket is just a few minutes' drive away, and down in Carvoeiro you'll find an excellent selection of restaurants, cafés and bars serving fresh fish, fine meat dishes and local vegetables.
Carvoeiro and the area
Carvoeiro is a picturesque fishing village perched on the cliffs above the Atlantic, with a small sheltered beach and a square surrounded by restaurants. From the resort it is approximately 1.5–2 km down to the village and beach – a pleasant walk of 15–20 minutes. Many of our guests take a taxi home after dinner, which costs just a few euros. Many PT Golf guests gather in and around Carvoeiro, which creates a convivial atmosphere at our competitions, social gatherings and dinners.
There is plenty to explore: just a few hundred metres east of the village lies Algar Seco, an impressive rock formation carved out by the Atlantic. A few kilometres away is Benagil Cave, one of Europe's most famous, which you can visit by boat from the small village of the same name. To the west, picturesque Ferragudo beckons, and for a taste of city life, Portimão with its wide range of restaurants and cultural attractions is a quarter hour away.
Golf
From Monte Santo you can easily reach many of the golf courses in your golf package. Gramacho and Pinta are just a few minutes' drive away. The sister courses Alamos and Morgado (where the European Tour has been played) are 25 minutes away, and Palmares offers sea views from most holes and a fantastic clubhouse.
Our 14 golf courses included in West Algarve:
Golf is flexible – you choose which golf courses you play and how you distribute your rounds of golf.
* At Boavista our guests book their own tee times.
** Amendoeira Faldo and O'Connor can be played for an additional fee, and tee times are booked directly by the guest.
Accommodation details
West Algarve
We consider West Algarve to extend from Albufeira and westwards. This was where Portuguese explorers set sail in the 15th century on their voyages of discovery around the world. The landscape features mountains inland, rolling cliffs to the west and flatter coastline to the east. In the cities of Silves and Lagos, you can feel history's presence and see preserved traces of the Moorish past and the age of exploration. Algarve's least developed area is the north-western corner with its protected nature reserves, untouched beaches, wild coastlines and dramatic cliffs. Here you'll find Europe's most south-westerly point, Cabo de São Vicente, where the mighty Atlantic makes an awe-inspiring impression.
The hub is Alvor and Portimão with their long beaches and genuine fishing harbours. From here you can reach everything from championship golf courses to the cliff drama of Ponta da Piedade, and in the evening you can enjoy cataplana in the harbour quarters or watch the sunset from Lagos' ancient walls. In winter you'll often have both the golf courses and beaches almost to yourself – and prices are at their best.
