Welcome to Alvor - a picturesque and lively coastal village where Portuguese small-town charm meets proximity to both nature and golf. Here you will stay at Pelican Resort, a newly renovated and pleasant accommodation with a high standard, located in a quiet area almost completely without traffic. You can walk to the center of Alvor with its small square, cozy alleys and lively main street in about 10-15 minutes. In the vicinity there are plenty of cafes and restaurants that are open all year round, and here locals and visitors meet in a relaxed and genuine atmosphere.
Pelican Resort offers bright and well-equipped apartments with one or two bedrooms, fast Wi-Fi, international TV channels and fully equipped kitchens. All apartments have undergone extensive renovation, both interior and exterior. The area has a nice outdoor pool and common areas for socializing and relaxing. Parking is available outside the reception, which is manned 24 hours a day.
The apartments do not have their own washing machine, but we have an agreement with a local laundry - you drop off your laundry and pick it up after one to two days. A convenient and appreciated solution!
One of Alvor's highlights is the harbor with its many fish restaurants where the catch of the day is cooked directly from the boats. The promenade along the sea is perfect for evening walks at sunset or a morning jog with a view of the Atlantic - balm for both body and soul.
Alvor's history stretches far back in time - the city was founded as early as 436 under the name Portus Hannibalis. Today it is a quiet and charming town with small-scale folk life, where the pace is pleasantly slow. In the square you can still see locals sitting with their "bica" (espresso) and enjoying the day.
From Pelican Alvor you are also close to several of the Algarve's best golf courses. Classics such as Penina are just ten minutes away, while Alamos and Morgado, where the European Tour has played, can be reached in about 25 minutes. Silves Golf, a technically challenging and beautiful course, is half an hour away. And for those who want to play with the sea in sight, Palmares Golf Club near Lagos is a must - here both high quality and miles of views await you from the clubhouse.
As our guest here, you have access to our entire unique golf package Western Algarve - Optional Golf involves playing on 15 different golf courses along the coast, from Santo António in the far west to Vila Sol in Vilamoura. There is something here for all levels of play and tastes. Long and tough or shorter and more technical. Flat and walkable or hilly and breathtaking. Play on just one or a few courses, or try a new course "every day". The possibilities are almost endless!
Bookings for your own game are primarily made via our Guest Portal (or app), where a basic range of tee times is reserved for our guests. It is also possible to book times via email, telephone or directly on site at the courses. Registration for our competitions is always made via the Guest Portal or app. You can book up to 10 rounds – both your own game and competitions – before arrival, while the remaining rounds are booked on site according to the principle “play one, book one”. The Guest Portal is shared by all our guests in the Western Algarve, which provides the opportunity for varied games and pleasant fellowship with both new and familiar golf friends.
