New home golf courses in Eastern Algarve: Quinta da Ria & Quinta de Cima

If you've travelled with us to Tavira and Cabanas, you know that golf in Eastern Algarve is something quite special: quieter, greener and closer to the sea than in the west. From the 2026/2027 season, it's about to get even better. We've made Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima our new home golf courses for all our accommodation in Eastern Algarve – and we're launching a golf package where both courses are included together with our trusted friend Benamor.

Quinta da Ria – links feel at Ria Formosa

Quinta da Ria was designed by Rocky Roquemore and opened in 2002 on a headland jutting out towards the lagoon. The course is relatively flat and easy to walk, but the Atlantic wind and water in play on several holes ensure it never feels simple. The highlights lie on the outer section where fairways run alongside lakes and salt pans with the sea as a backdrop – holes where you'll want to pause for a moment before you strike. The greens are generous and well-maintained, and the course welcomes both low and high handicappers in a friendly manner.

Quinta de Cima – sister course that offers a challenge

Just a few hundred metres away lies Quinta de Cima, designed by the same architect but with a completely different character. Here the course is longer and more undulating, routed through an old country estate with olive groves, fig trees and small streams crossing the holes. Cima is considered the tougher of the two – narrower landing areas, more doglegs and a couple of truly memorable par 3s over water. Together, the two courses give you precisely the variety we want to offer during a longer stay.

Benamor – the home club everyone learns to love

Benamor needs no introduction to our regular guests: a walkable, charming course in the hills above Tavira with fine views over the coast, a welcoming clubhouse and a golf host who knows everyone by name. With Benamor now included in the same package as Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima, you can alternate between three completely different courses without leaving Eastern Algarve. 

New golf package: Quinta da Ria/Cima Special

The new package comes in three sizes and can be chosen at all our accommodation in Eastern Algarve – from Cabanas Garden and Cabanas Beach to Tavira Suites, Quinta do Morgado and Pedras da Rainha:

• Light – 7 rounds of golf at Quinta da Ria/Cima and 3 rounds at Benamor.
• Medium – 10 rounds of golf at Quinta da Ria/Cima and 5 rounds at Benamor.
• Large – 15 rounds of golf at Quinta da Ria/Cima and 5 rounds at Benamor.

You choose how to divide the rounds between Ria and Cima yourself, tee times are reserved and as always, accommodation and a golf host on site are included. If you want even more golf, Free Golf Benamor and our mixed packages with play in Western Spain remain available as before.

New: weekly competitions on all three courses

From this season onwards, we arrange a weekly competition for PT Golf guests – alternating between Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima and Benamor. It's a relaxed way to get to know the courses, meet other Swedish golfers and add a little extra excitement to your game. Sign up via our the guest portal/app as usual, and the competitions are included for everyone with a golf package in Eastern Algarve that includes these courses.
