Stay right in charming Luz, just a stone's throw from the sea!
The high-quality and hugely popular Estrela da Luz – which means "Star of the Light" – sits at the heart of the little village of Luz, beside the beautiful church and within walking distance of the beach. Nearby you'll find several food shops, a bakery, butcher, pharmacy and a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafés and bars. We have apartments with one bedroom and one bathroom, as well as larger apartments with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All are fully equipped for a comfortable Longstay stay with kitchen, excellent Wi-Fi and international TV channels. As a guest, you have free access to the resort's heated indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi and well-equipped gym.
Chicca's Restaurant, a well-known institution in Luz for 20 years, is also here. Chicca's serves home-cooked Italian-inspired dishes made with local ingredients – and also offers healthy and vegan options made with organic produce from the region.
The village of Luz – often called Praia da Luz thanks to its beachside location – is a charming and welcoming place where locals and visitors meet in a relaxed atmosphere. The beach promenade is lined with restaurants, cafés and bars, and in just half an hour you can reach Sagres – the "End of the World", where Portuguese explorers once gazed out to the horizon before sailing off to conquer the world's oceans.
Just 10 minutes' drive from Luz lies the vibrant town of Lagos, one of Algarve's most cherished gems. Here, history, culture and modern living combine in a unique blend – from charming cobbled streets and the old town walls to little shops, markets and a lively atmosphere. Lagos also boasts some of the region's most spectacular beaches, dramatic cliffs at Ponta da Piedade and a wide range of restaurants, cafés and bars. A perfect day trip when you're staying in Luz!
For golf, the location is excellent – you can reach Boavista and Espiche in under 10 minutes – but as our guest here, you also have access to our unique golf package Western Algarve – Choice Golf which means playing at different golf courses along the coast, from Santo António in the far west to Vila Sol in Vilamoura. There's truly something for every skill level and preference. Long and challenging or shorter and more technical. Flat and easy-walking or hilly and spectacular. Play just one or a handful of courses, or try a new course every day. The possibilities are almost endless!
Booking tee times for your own play is primarily done via our Guestportalen (or app), where a basic selection of tee times is reserved for our guests. You can also book times by e-mail, telephone or directly at the courses. Entries to our competitions are always made via Guestportalen or app. You can book up to 10 rounds of golf – both your own play and competitions – before arrival, while remaining rounds are booked on site on a play-one-book-one basis. Guestportalen is shared by all our guests in the area, which gives you the chance to enjoy varied play and pleasant company with both new and familiar golf friends.

West Algarve
We consider West Algarve to extend from Albufeira and westwards. This was where Portuguese explorers set sail in the 15th century on their voyages of discovery around the world. The landscape features mountains inland, rolling cliffs to the west and flatter coastline to the east. In the cities of Silves and Lagos, you can feel history's presence and see preserved traces of the Moorish past and the age of exploration. Algarve's least developed area is the north-western corner with its protected nature reserves, untouched beaches, wild coastlines and dramatic cliffs. Here you'll find Europe's most south-westerly point, Cabo de São Vicente, where the mighty Atlantic makes an awe-inspiring impression.
The hub is Alvor and Portimão with their long beaches and genuine fishing harbours. From here you can reach everything from championship golf courses to the cliff drama of Ponta da Piedade, and in the evening you can enjoy cataplana in the harbour quarters or watch the sunset from Lagos' ancient walls. In winter you'll often have both the golf courses and beaches almost to yourself – and prices are at their best.
