Belmar Beach Resort is located in the south-western corner of Lagos, right on the long sandy beach of Praia do Mos. Here you combine the freedom of staying in your own apartment with the conveniences of a well-equipped spa hotel. You'll have the sea as your neighbour and it's just a five-minute walk to two popular beachfront restaurants serving both fish and meat dishes.

The resort offers apartments with one or two bedrooms, all with kitchens for self-catering. The one-bedroom apartments come as standard or premium with sea views. The two-bedroom apartments always have sea views and in approximately 90% of cases both bathrooms are ensuite. There are also two-storey townhouses with a patio, balcony and roof terrace, as well as penthouses at the top with a large terrace and panoramic sea views – these are offered on request.

Belmar features a modern indoor spa with a heated pool, sauna, steam room and a well-equipped gym – all free to use for our guests. There's also a pleasant restaurant, an inviting lobby bar and communal areas that make it easy to socialise before or after golf.

Lagos is a vibrant city year-round with a wide range of restaurants and cafés. In the city's historic centre – one of the Algarve's most charming city hearts – you'll find cobbled streets, whitewashed houses with colourful doors and windows, and small squares lined with cafés and restaurants. The old city wall, which once protected the city from pirates and invaders, still stands in several places. You can also visit Forte da Ponta da Bandeira, a well-preserved 17th-century fortress, and Mercado de Escravos, a museum in the old slave market building that tells the story of an important part of Portuguese history. Together with small shops, galleries, markets and a lively local life, this makes Lagos a city where every walk offers new discoveries.

The area around Lagos offers some of the Algarve's most spectacular beaches. Praia Dona Ana captivates with its golden cliffs and turquoise waters, whilst Praia do Camilo is reached via a long wooden staircase and offers one of the region's most iconic views. At Ponta da Piedade, dramatic rock formations, caves and natural arches await – a place that is just as impressive from land as from a boat or kayak.

To the west you'll find charming coastal villages such as Luz and Burgau, perfect for lunch by the sea after a round of golf. A little further away lies Costa Vicentina, a protected coastal landscape with wild beaches and small fishing villages that feel untouched by time. In just over half an hour's drive you can also reach Cabo de São Vicente, Portugal's westernmost point, where the Atlantic meets the horizon in dramatic views.

If you want even more city life, there's Portimão with shopping, marina and restaurants, and to the west awaits the surf culture of Sagres.

Golf-wise, the location is excellent – you'll reach Palmares, Boavista and Espiche in 15–20 minutes. Several other courses, both to the east and west, are within a 30–45 minute drive. As our guest here, you have access to our unique golf package Western Algarve – Your Choice of Golf which means playing at different golf courses along the coast, from Santo António at the far west to Vila Sol in Vilamoura. There's truly something for all skill levels and preferences. Long and challenging or shorter and more technical. Flat and easy-walking or rolling and spectacular. Play just one or a few courses, or try a new course every day. The possibilities are almost endless!

Booking tee times for your own play is done primarily through our Guestportal (or app), where a range of tee times is reserved for our guests. You can also book tee times by email, telephone or directly at the courses. Entry to our competitions is always via the Guestportal or app. You can book up to 10 rounds – both your own play and competitions – before arrival, whilst remaining rounds are booked on site on a play one, book one basis. The Guestportal is shared by all our guests in the area, which gives you the opportunity for varied play and pleasant socialising with both new and familiar golfing friends.

We consider West Algarve to extend from Albufeira and westwards. This was where Portuguese explorers set sail in the 15th century on their voyages of discovery around the world. The landscape features mountains inland, rolling cliffs to the west and flatter coastline to the east. In the cities of Silves and Lagos, you can feel history's presence and see preserved traces of the Moorish past and the age of exploration. Algarve's least developed area is the north-western corner with its protected nature reserves, untouched beaches, wild coastlines and dramatic cliffs. Here you'll find Europe's most south-westerly point, Cabo de São Vicente, where the mighty Atlantic makes an awe-inspiring impression.

The hub is Alvor and Portimão with their long beaches and genuine fishing harbours. From here you can reach everything from championship golf courses to the cliff drama of Ponta da Piedade, and in the evening you can enjoy cataplana in the harbour quarters or watch the sunset from Lagos' ancient walls. In winter you'll often have both the golf courses and beaches almost to yourself – and prices are at their best.
