Hotel Rural Brícia Du Mar is a modern four-star hotel with 56 studios, opened in 2021, beautifully situated on a hillside between countryside and sea just outside the fishing village of Ferragudo. Here you'll enjoy the hotel's conveniences – daily housekeeping, breakfast buffet, restaurant, gym and 24-hour reception – whilst having your own kitchenette and terrace. A secure and straightforward choice for a Shortstay trip in western Algarve, with Gramacho and Vale da Pinta just ten minutes away.
Accommodation
The studios are bright and elegantly furnished with smart TV, air conditioning, safe, hairdryer and complimentary Wi-Fi. Each studio has a basic kitchenette with a two-ring hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and coffee maker, plus a dining area – perfect for breakfast on your terrace or a simple supper, but don't expect a full kitchen. Most studios have their own terrace overlooking the pool area or garden.
Housekeeping is daily. A washing machine is available in a few studios; other guests can use the hotel's laundry service. Parking is complimentary in the garage beneath the hotel.
Breakfast, restaurant and gym
A breakfast buffet is included each morning and can be enjoyed on the terrace. The hotel's restaurant serves traditional Portuguese cuisine with an emphasis on regional meat and fish, and a poolside bar offers lighter fare. Room service is available. The gym is well-equipped and maintains a high standard according to our guests. The hotel also has a small spa offering massage – please book treatments before arrival, as the spa is not always staffed during low season.
Ferragudo and surroundings
Ferragudo is considered one of Algarve's most authentic fishing villages, with whitewashed houses cascading down to the River Arade, a small square surrounded by fish restaurants and the fortress of São João do Arade on the beach. From the hotel it's about 1.5 km, a twenty-minute walk, down to the square. The beaches of Pintadinho and Molhe are a ten-minute walk away, and Praia Grande and Caneiros just a few minutes by car. Across the river lies Portimão with its market hall, shopping centre and Praia da Rocha – accessible by car in ten minutes or by the small ferry from Ferragudo's quay.
Golf
From Brícia Du Mar you can reach Gramacho and Vale da Pinta in ten minutes, Silves in a quarter of an hour, and Alto, Penina and Alamos/Morgado in 20–25 minutes. West Algarve
We consider West Algarve to extend from Albufeira and westwards. This was where Portuguese explorers set sail in the 15th century on their voyages of discovery around the world. The landscape features mountains inland, rolling cliffs to the west and flatter coastline to the east. In the cities of Silves and Lagos, you can feel history's presence and see preserved traces of the Moorish past and the age of exploration. Algarve's least developed area is the north-western corner with its protected nature reserves, untouched beaches, wild coastlines and dramatic cliffs. Here you'll find Europe's most south-westerly point, Cabo de São Vicente, where the mighty Atlantic makes an awe-inspiring impression.
The hub is Alvor and Portimão with their long beaches and genuine fishing harbours. From here you can reach everything from championship golf courses to the cliff drama of Ponta da Piedade, and in the evening you can enjoy cataplana in the harbour quarters or watch the sunset from Lagos' ancient walls. In winter you'll often have both the golf courses and beaches almost to yourself – and prices are at their best.
