The Cádiz area offers everything a long-stay golfer could wish for – wonderful weather, beautiful surroundings with plenty of attractions, and of course several excellent golf courses, each with its own character and charm. With around fifteen courses nearby, it can be difficult to know where to start. Here is our guide, straight from us golf hosts to you!

La Estancia – home course for many

A delightful course with genuine club atmosphere, and for many guests almost like a second home. The drive there is a bit bumpy, but once you arrive, you'll find a varied layout where lakes and waterways have been preserved from the original landscape. They create both beauty and challenge. A tip: try playing from the blue tees – it can save both strokes and balls. The course is also easy to walk thanks to short distances between green and the next tee. There are good practice areas and a pleasant restaurant where we're planning more activities in the future.

Club de Golf Campano – among olive and pine trees

A classic parkland course with Spanish charm, where precision matters more than power. The first nine holes wind through a pine forest between houses, whilst the final nine lead through an olive grove. The character is friendly but still offers challenges. An advantage is that the round can be shortened after 9, 12 or 14 holes. Nearby there's an affordable lunch restaurant, and at the club a small café for those who want to stay right after their round.

Sancti Petri Hills – technical course for precision players

A little gem, designed by Seve Ballesteros. Narrow, technical and challenging, with greens that sometimes feel as small as a postage stamp. Already on the first hole your patience is tested, but when you succeed, the feeling is fantastic. This is a course that grows on you the more times you play it. Often there are plenty of tee times available outside our blocks.

Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri – two top-class courses

A complete golf complex with 36 holes, also signed by Seve. Here seaside feel meets parkland setting, and when the sea breeze sweeps in, even short holes become long. The greens are fast, the bunkers deep, and the views towards the Atlantic are hard to beat. Both Course A and B are of high quality. On Course A you also play all the way down to the beach – a unique experience. Tee times can be booked only 48 hours in advance, easiest on site the day before. The PGA often runs courses here and the practice areas are among the best in Andalusia.

Montenmedio – nature experience par excellence

A course with no buildings around it – here it's just you, nature, and perhaps a deer appearing along the fairway. The layout winds through magnificent countryside where the views offer both the outline of Africa and whitewashed Spanish villages. The course is hilly, so a golf buggy is a good idea on warm days. The fairways are generous and the greens are among the best in the region. The clubhouse is also worth a visit in itself, with beautiful architecture and rustic food of high quality.

Fairplay Benalup – charming course with spectacular views

The name might seem ironic – the course can be unpredictable – but always in a charming way. Here you're greeted with sweeping views over mountains and countryside, so beautiful you almost forget your score. The journey from Sancti Petri and Rota is a bit longer, but well worth the effort. If you arrive early, you'll also enjoy a really good breakfast at the clubhouse before your round.

Sherry Golf – views and Andalusian atmosphere

As you pass through the grand entrance, you feel as though you've arrived at a true Andalusian manor house. The location near Jerez, the home of sherry, makes the experience even more special. The course is initially hilly, but once you reach the heights you're rewarded with lovely views. The condition is usually very good, the distances between green and next tee are short, and holes 13–16 are among the most beautiful in all of Spain.

Costa Ballena – seaside and varied 27-hole gem

A modern facility with a full 27 holes, ensuring variety is always on offer. The layout is open and fairly forgiving, but the sea breeze can quickly increase the difficulty. There are good practice areas, a par-3 course and a well-stocked golf shop. Make sure to book tee times in advance – the course is very popular.

Montecastillo – class and history in hilly terrain

Coming here is like visiting a castle-like resort, complete with hotel and restaurant. The course is hilly and a golf buggy is recommended – before 11 o'clock it's even mandatory. Montecastillo has hosted the Volvo Masters and therefore maintains high international standards. After your round, a break in the restaurant is recommended, with views over the 18th hole and bubbling fountains.

Villanueva – guest favourite with extra charm

A course that many guests return to. It's relatively open and wide, which makes it wind-sensitive but at the same time pleasant to play. The condition is often very good with fine greens and fairways.
As an extra detail, a croquet lawn lies right next to it – here you can watch elegant players in white clothing enjoying this classic sport.

Arcos – new addition to the list

We'll return with a full description after we've played here at the end of September/beginning of October. Already we know that Arcos attracts with both beautiful surroundings and exciting layout – so watch this space!
