Playing golf in Pulpí (Almería, Spain) is quite different from home. Here you'll encounter spectacular views, desert landscapes, holes near the sea and palm-lined fairways – all within easy reach of our accommodations. Here are our four favourite courses in the area – each with its own character and charm.

Aguilón Golf – our home course with wow-factor

This is the course we call "our own" – and for good reason. Aguilón Golf is without question the most beloved amongst our golf hosts. The course is dramatically framed by barren mountains with the Mediterranean as a backdrop. You'll find broad fairways, deep ravines, water hazards and subtle greens that make every hole exciting. It's challenging but fair – and always in excellent condition. A course you won't forget – and one we don't really have an equivalent to in Sweden. The course is fully walkable for those with energy to spare, but many choose a golf buggy – particularly given the distance between some holes. The clubhouse staff are also incredibly friendly and helpful. Par 70. Designed by Global Golf.

Valle del Este – desert character and sharp design

This course winds its way through a semi-desert landscape, with dramatic ravines, water hazards and substantial waste areas. Here awaits a challenging and varied round in a resort area with hotel, clubhouse, restaurants and a well-stocked golf shop. The staff are service-minded and usually speak excellent English. Despite its character, the course is relatively easy to walk – but bring both focus and patience, as this is no Sunday stroll. Par 71. Designed by José Canales.

Marina Golf – a course with two sides

A course that sparks discussion – but one we hosts are happy to play! Marina Golf in Mojacar is quite an experience in itself. Some holes are played down by the sea, others sit on the other side of a mountain with incredible views over the landscape. It's a course with personality – charming, a bit quirky, but fun! We recommend a golf buggy on your first visit – especially if you want to save your legs for the final hole. Condition has varied, but improvements are ongoing, and the welcome at the clubhouse is always warm. Par 71. Designed by Ramón Espinosa.

Desert Springs – like playing in Arizona

One of Europe's few authentic desert courses – and something completely different from what we're used to in Sweden. The course winds its way between cacti, palms and exclusive villas. It's designed with inspiration from American desert courses and offers broad fairways, large waste areas, well-placed water hazards – and plenty of photo opportunities. The clubhouse is in English country club style, and the entire resort has a distinct character. A "utility club" can be handy to have with you – as you sometimes end up in the slightly rockier areas. But the course is easy to walk and always in good condition. Par 72. Designed by Peter McEvoy.

Pulpí is not just a destination – it's a golf experience. Here you'll play courses with completely different styles, from coast to desert, from drama to elegance. Whether you're an experienced golfer or a keen enthusiast, you'll find your favourites.
