Quinta do Vale Steps Up – Golf Joy and Big News in Eastern Algarve

Apr 15, 2026

In eastern Algarve, where Portugal almost becomes Spain, lies one of our most memorable golf courses – Quinta do Vale. It is dramatic, beautiful and designed by none other than Seve Ballesteros. But it also has a reputation. Some (we suspect after a tough scorecard…) have jokingly called it 'Tvi Vale'. And yes – it has occasionally been a course that tested both patience and ball supplies.

But now things are happening – for real.

Heading into autumn 2025, Quinta do Vale is stepping up significantly. Improvements are already noticeable, and it feels as though the entire facility is getting a new lease of life. And we like what we see!

Changes you'll notice straight away:

  • Tees have been moved forward on several holes – you no longer need to hit like Seve to have a really good round.
  • The rough around water hazards has been cleared – now you can see both the flag and the ball (and no, there's no crocodile – we promise!).
  • The rough is being thinned and tidied up – less ball hunting, more golf enjoyment.
  • Smart irrigation using greywater from Vila Real de Santo António – a sustainable step that keeps the grass both greener and kinder.
  • Grass quality is improving continuously – for a more even and fairer playing experience.

And that's not all…

On the slope opposite the clubhouse, a brand new 9-hole Academy Course is taking shape – some holes are already playable, and it looks both fun and challenging. Perfect for beginners, practice or a quick afternoon round after lunch on the terrace.

We're already looking forward to seeing what our guests think when they meet the 'new Vale' this autumn – and we dare to guess that even the most sceptical will need to update their nickname…
