Tavira Downtown

Accommodation in the heart of Tavira!

This charming accommodation is situated right in the centre of Tavira with its whitewashed buildings and delightful narrow streets. Within walking distance you'll find the new and old parts of Tavira with their cosy shops, restaurants and cafés. The town is one of the Algarve's most talked-about and popular destinations, charming its visitors with its pleasant tranquillity and vibrant local life throughout the year.

The apartments at Tavira Downtown – note, limited availability – are of a very high standard and surround a peaceful pool area. The apartments have 2 bedrooms and 1 or 2 bathrooms, a spacious living room and a fully equipped kitchen. All apartments have a loft entrance and all feature excellent Wi-Fi and international TV channels. Parking is available in the garage beneath the building.

Tavira's fantastic market hall is just a couple of minutes' walk away, with freshly caught fish, local butchers and locally grown fruit and vegetables. The riverside promenade is lovely and lined with small cafés and restaurants to suit all tastes. Enjoy a drink of your choice along the riverbank and watch the Gilão river – which flows into the Atlantic here – rise and fall with the tide.

On the third Saturday of each month, the town market takes place where you can see and buy everything from live chickens to local crafts and, of course, curiosities. Don't miss this event, and particularly not the charcoal-grilled chicken served with salad and wine at the temporary stands set up in the market square. A real experience!

In Tavira, you really do have golf on your doorstep. To 'your home course' Benamor – where we have daily tee times, weekly competitions and wonderful socialising on the 19th – it's just 10 minutes. The fantastic twin courses Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima are just another 5 minutes away. Within half an hour you can also reach the challenging gem Quinta do Vale and the rolling, naturally beautiful Castro Marim near the border. On the other side of the bridge over the border river Guadiana, you'll find our Spanish courses Isla Canela Old Course, Isla Canela Links, El Rompido and more – all within an hour's drive.

With us, you'll enjoy the market's by far broadest and best golf packages with high-quality golf courses for all playing levels and preferences. Long and tough or shorter and more technical. Flat and leisurely or rolling and spectacular. Play just one or a few courses, or try a new course 'every day'. The possibilities are almost endless!

East Algarve

East Algarve, from Faro to the Spanish border, is the stretch of coast that has retained most of its original character. Tavira is one of Portugal's most beautiful small towns, with its churches, Roman bridge and excellent range of restaurants. Beyond lies Ria Formosa, a lagoon landscape with islands and long sandy beaches reached by small ferries. Golf is played on courses such as Benamor, Quinta da Ria, Quinta de Cima, Castro Marim and Monte Rei.

You'll find life quieter here than in the west: Cabanas and Tavira's island beaches are reached by small ferries, the market hall displays the day's catch, and evenings are peaceful. Monte Rei – often ranked as Portugal's finest course – is the highlight for many visitors, and if you fancy a change of scenery, Spanish Ayamonte is just a short drive away across the Guadiana bridge. Winter is mild and tranquil, with empty beaches and plenty of tee times.
