The Residences Islantilla Apartments – or Islantilla for short – is a modern and popular resort with bright, nice apartments equipped for self-catering. All apartments have two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a generous living room. Something our guests often highlight is the comfortable beds with organic mattress pads – a small detail that makes a big difference to recovery after the day's round of golf. All apartments also have a safety box.
The location is one of the resort's great strengths – you live practically and comfortably with Islantilla Golf and its 27 varying holes just a stone's throw away. The accommodation itself is located around the well-known AMA Islantilla hotel, where guests have access to facilities such as a bar, restaurant, indoor pool, sauna and gym. Please note that the hotel's bar and restaurant are closed during December and January, but other facilities such as a sauna, gym and indoor pool are available all year round. The outdoor pool is not in use during the winter months of November to March.
Islantilla Golf is one of the most popular courses in the Huelva area. With its 27 holes, divided into three 9-hole loops, the course offers good variety and new game combinations every day. Here you play among pine forests, lakes and hills with beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean - an environment that is both inspiring and challenging. The layout suits all types of players, and the greens are of a consistently good standard. For those who want to warm up, there is both a driving range and practice areas for short games.
With access to no less than ten different courses in our unique Western Spain golf package, you also get a wonderful variety of games during your stay. Here, coastal locations are combined with scenic inland environments, technical park courses with open links landscapes, and challenges for both low and high handicappers. Whether you want to try something new every day or return to a favorite course, you have the freedom to plan your golf exactly as you want.
The accommodation is within walking distance of the small centre of Islantilla, and further on to La Antilla – a charming coastal community with an inviting sandy beach. The walk takes around 15–20 minutes (1.7 km). During the winter months, La Antilla offers a calmer pace with fewer tourists and a quiet local life. Especially in December and January, many beach restaurants are closed, and the days are more about relaxation, beach walks and really good golf – in a climate that is often both mild and sunny.
There is also much to discover in the surrounding area – both on the Spanish and Portuguese sides. The Doñana Nature Reserve, one of Europe’s most important wetland areas, is within easy reach and offers a unique nature experience with flamingos and wild horses. For those interested in culture, Seville is a given excursion destination – one of Spain’s most beautiful cities with magnificent architecture, narrow alleys in the historic quarter of Santa Cruz, the famous cathedral and the Alcázar Palace. Here you can enjoy tapas and perhaps a real flamenco show – all just 1.5 hours from Islantilla. In the opposite direction you will find the charming fishing village of El Rompido, where you can take a small boat across to the sandbank of La Flecha – a quiet, scenic area with a mile-long beach, perfect for a relaxing day trip. And just 20 minutes away is Ayamonte, a cozy little town on the Guadiana River. From here you can easily take the ferry across to neighboring Portugal and Vila Real de Santo António – a nice little trip where you get to experience two cultures in one day.
Our unique golf package Western Spain – Mixed Golf involves playing on ten different golf courses along the Costa de la Luz and into Portugal, with varying character, length and feel. The ‘home course’ Islantilla is only a few hundred meters away and the other courses are all within a half-hour drive on good roads. For playing on our other 5 courses in the Eastern Algarve, vouchers can be exchanged (for an additional fee) or purchased from your Golf Host!
Booking times for your own game is primarily done via our Guest Portal (or app), where a basic selection of tee times is reserved for our guests. It is also possible to book times via email, telephone or directly on site at the courses. Registration for our competitions is always done in the Guest Portal or app. You can book up to 10 rounds – both your own game and competitions – before arrival, while the remaining rounds are booked on site according to the principle of “play one, book one”. The Guest Portal is shared by all our guests in the area, which provides the opportunity for varied games and pleasant fellowship with both new and well-known golf friends.
